Frequently asked questions
Is this really free?
Yes, and it stays free for public entities. There is no account, no trial, and no sales follow-up. The tool exists because commercial accessibility audits are priced beyond what small towns and districts can pay, which is the reason the compliance gap exists in the first place.
Do you store my website's content?
No. Pages are loaded, checked in memory, and discarded. The report is held for one hour so you can read and download it, then deleted. We do not keep copies of your pages.
How long does a scan take?
Usually under a minute. We check your home page plus the pages linked from it, up to twelve pages.
My report shows zero findings. Am I compliant?
No — you have cleared the part a machine can check, which is roughly a third of the WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria. The rest need a person navigating with a keyboard and listening with a screen reader. A clean report is a good floor, not a certificate.
Why does it say 200 problems when my site only has a few pages?
It shouldn't. This tool collapses repeated instances of one problem into a single finding, because a missing label repeated across a templated site is one fix, not two hundred. If you have seen a 200-item list, that was a different tool.
What is the deadline, exactly?
Entities serving a population of 50,000 or more must comply by 2027-04-26. Entities under 50,000, and all special district governments, have until 2028-04-26. Both dates come from the Department of Justice rule at 28 CFR Part 35, Subpart H.
Can I scan a site I do not run?
Technically yes — it only reads public pages, the same as a browser. But the report is written for whoever can fix the site, so it is most useful run on your own.
Does a clean report protect me legally?
No. This is an automated check, not legal advice and not a formal conformance statement. Use it to find and fix problems; talk to your counsel about compliance posture.
